Quantifying Bypass Traffic in Partially Meshed Transparent Optical Networks

چکیده

Abstract This work investigates the transparent bypassing capacity requirements of elastic backbone optical networks to determine all-optical cross-connection needed at network nodes. Topological parameters have been used develop a random generator, and generated topologies are evaluated. Reference values obtained applied well-known topologies, extensive simulations conducted obtain nodes' traffic under realistic profiles. The study reveals that although varies by topology, it never exceeds 9% total per node degree. These findings can help properly dimension nodes determining necessary quantity transceivers based on topology expected traffic.

Segment shared protection for survivable meshed WDM optical networks

In this paper, we investigate the protection design for survivable meshed WDM optical networks, and propose a novel heuristic algorithm, which is called segment shared protection (SSP), to completely protect the dual-link failures. For each connection request, first SSP computes a least-cost working path, second SSP divides the working path into several un-overlapped segment paths according to ...

Monitoring of Meshed Optical Networks using Modified End- Terminals

Modern optical fibre networks are evolving from static point-to-point connections towards meshed networks with some degree of optical transparency and capability for reconfiguration. At the same time installation and operation shall be simplified, while the availability shall be kept high. In the network design this task can be accomplished by allocation of transmission margins and by control o...

Dynamic survivable algorithm for meshed WDM optical networks

In this paper, we propose a novel heuristic survivable algorithm called dynamic path-shared protection (DPSP) to completely protect the double-link failures in meshed Wavelengthdivision-multiplexing (WDM) optical networks. In order to improve the algorithm performance, we focus on considering two key issues that are load balancing and resourcesharing degree when computing the working and backup...

Physical-Layer Attacks in Transparent Optical Networks

For the past decades, network traffic has been showing immense growth trends, as we are witnessing the rapid development of network applications such as Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), peer-to-peer traffic, grid computing, multi-player gaming etc. Optical fiber, with its huge capacity of up to 50 THz, low bit error rate of 10-12, low loss of 0.2 dB/km and low noise and interference characteristics...

Multi-layer traffic grooming in networks with an IP/MPLS layer on top of a meshed optical layer

Traffic grooming in networks employing WDM is gaining attention due to the difference between the bandwidth requirements of the traffic demands coming from the client layer and the capacity of a wavelength in an Optical Transport Network (OTN). In this paper an algorithm for efficient traffic grooming in a multi-layer IP/MPLS-over-meshed OTN scenario is presented. It allows designing the IP/MPL...
